Lyrics Kayak II

Kayak - Kayak II (1974)

Alibi

The jury won’t believe my words
They want my alibi
It’s no use to convince the judge
’Cause money knows no pride

Just take a good look around and soon you’ll understand
I do not stand no chance

The traitors and the renegades
They all have their excuse
Their peaceful dreams in minds that hate
While it’s me that they accuse

Just open your eyes my friend and tell me what you find
Or are you going blind?

Alibi
Truth or lie
Bars as cure give me your
Alibi
Live or die
Prison will make of you a better man

They tell me this, they tell me that
Deform the truth their way
One never knows just where it’s at
Ready to collaborate
Just open your eyes my friend and tell me what you find
Or are you going blind?

Alibi
Truth or lie
Bars as cure give me your
Alibi
Live or die
Prison will make of you a better man

Wintertime

How a changing scene
Rearranging trees
Signs of things to come right now
A cold wintertime

Days become less day
A returning play
Many creatures sleep right now
A cold wintertime

It’s wintertime now
Flakes whirling down down
But I’m alright so I can find
A way to see the bright side
It’s wintertime now
Flakes whirling down down
Yes I’m alright so I can find
A way to see the bright side

Silence all around
Quiet is the sound
Of the distant howling hound
A cold wintertime

Everything is free
To a high degree
You will give me peace of mind
A cold wintertime

Mountain Too Rough

Weakens a heart
As it moves on forward
Going places, sweet grimaces
Love is here, then disappearing

Hardens the world
As the echo is unheard
The words seem to affect
The feelings - once so pure - existing

Each mountain - snow needs warmth to melt and to flow seaward

Slackens the urge
Leaves no mountain to be searched
Until the next hill looms up
Clouds the view, all memories fly

Softens the smile
Sometimes still moves me for a while
But then remembering all the
Broken mattocks, wondering why

Each river running into the sea is needing falls to flow
So changing times and changing scenes
How could I ever say it like before:

You - be my mountain too rough to subdue
You - be my fountain of love - morning dew
Drowned in you, to wake up so fresh and new
Thus we will climb the day...

They Get To Know Me

All the medley circumstances
Sadness of surrounding senses
All the things around me
Did hurt me

Gently parents came to reason
End of disapproving seasons
Now they understand
For gradually
They get to know me

Attitudes of mind decay as
Tempers tend to be more gay, yes
Light comes into life
For you and me

Generation gap is fading
All suspicions disappearing
Now they understand
For gradually
They get to know me

Serenades

I hope this thing ain’t done
Before I wrote it to my heart, you know
The problem’s always to be new
But this is just a thing I do
When it’s late
I don’t write serenades to you

When eyes don’t see and ears don’t hear
Then there is nothing left to feel, you know
It must be pretty hard to judge
When it’s not understood and then
To get paid
I can’t write serenades to you

Woe And Alas

A love so sweet
Then interrupted - such a cruelty, what distress...
Who’d comfort him
When after having won and served the king he lost his mistress?

‘Oh will you always wait for me
Until the war has set me free?’
And then a last goodbye...

Woe and alas
Lost in their sadness and their lonely hearts, as tears console them
Spending their days
Weeping and mourning they would pine way, no arms to hold them

‘Oh will she still be waiting there
A maid like her, so young, so fair’
A soldier far from home (A soldier all alone)

Although his heart secretly cried
Too hard to brave the lonely nights

Then he returned
Tired of the war, oh how his inside burnt with love and passion
Finding her gone
Lost in the world but forced to carry on, no life reflections

‘How could I think she’d wait for me
A pretty girl like her?’ So he
Cried no woe and alas

Trust In The Machine

Dr. Sadon has succeeded
Demonstration never seen
No brain transplanting needed
You can get a thinking machine

No I.Q. will set the rules
For money to protect your life
When you think you’re worse than fools
Dr. Sadon takes a knife

Trust in the machine
Trust in the machine...

His Master’s Noise

As you behold the man amid the city hall
Eliminating ugly sounds, to get the right control
He’s said to be the master of the dancing waves
Just making all things ready now
No troubles left and
That’s when it starts
His master’s noise

He’s always everywhere on places where you need him
To lend an easy helping hand, he’s everybody’s friend
He’s fading the final sounds and so the end is here
The audience is cheering but
The show is over
That’s when it stops
His master’s noise

We Are Not Amused

We have grown tired to be tyrannized
We're all fed up with it
Said to have no heart and no emotions

There's nothing we haven't analyzed
Fellow computer men
Time has come we start to rule the world

Do you think you know us
Think you can control us
Don't you think we're all confused
Do you think you know us
Think you can control us
Baby we are not amused

As we are trained to be organized
Our plan can never fail
Regulating life with great perfection

To make us feel so much more combined
We'll find our common dream
Calculating our computer queen

Do you think you know us
Think you can control us
Don't you think we're all confused
Do you think you know us
Think you can control us
Baby we are not amused
